Pedal-Powered
Bike Lane Sweeper

Thanks to the incredible generosity of dedicated donors and the support of Liveable Kirkland members, we've acquired an innovative, lightweight bike lane sweeper that you can use. This isn't just any sweeper – it's designed to be easily towed behind a standard bicycle and is compact enough to fit in the trunk of many cars, making it incredibly accessible. It is a hybrid sweeper that can both pick up debris and also sweep it out of the way.

Powered by Community, Built for Connection

This project is about more than just clearing away leaves and debris. It's about:

  • Community Action: Empowering residents to take direct ownership of the spaces they use and love.

  • Volunteerism: Providing a simple, impactful way for individuals and groups to contribute to a better Kirkland and a better Eastside.

  • Safety: Helping keep bike lanes clear of hazards that can cause slips or punctures.

  • Connection: Bringing neighbors together for a common, positive goal.

We believe that small, local actions can build a stronger, more connected community. By volunteering just a little bit of your time, you can make a visible difference on your street, your commute route, or your favorite local path.

How it Works

Our Community Bike Lane Sweeper is simple to use. Just hitch it to your bike using a standard Burley hitch and pedal away! You can turn the brush on remotely using a control that attaches to your handlebars. It's perfect for clearing typical debris like leaves, gravel, and litter that accumulate in bike lanes. Because it's so portable, you can easily transport it to the area you want to spruce up.
